Limiting Belief

As a child what are some of your limiting beliefs?

How did it influence you?

What did you learn from the experience?

As a child I was groomed to believe a lot of things but three things that I disagreed with from the beginning was:

1. You have to be a doctor, a lawyer, or a teacher in order to be successful.

2. If you're not successful, the only thing you can do as a woman is become a prostitute.

3. If you don't know how to be a housewife no one's going to want you.

Growing up even though I strongly disagree with it, hearing it repeatedly hurts my feminine energy and confidence a lot because it made me feel worthless as a female and as a human being.

Growing up I survived by always trying to prove my parents wrong. I fought to be independent, strong, and different in doing something out of their line of success, which was business. This ended up being extremely draining resulting in me losing myself.

With my rebellious nature it sounded like I would have won in this battle against them but everything I did turned out to benefit them. I became their trophy child because I was living by their definition of success.

It wasn't until I remembered who I am and found my definition of success and started living by it. I re-navigated my life and here I am, still, rebellious and no longer their trophy child but doing exactly the things that makes me feel authentic and alive every day, connecting with the world, and paying forth the love and kindness this world has to offer through the best way I know of, by being me and by promoting a holistically loving, welcoming and healing way of life.

Through this experience I learned that there's no battle to begin with, just boundaries to respect. I learned to respect and accept differences because no matter how big or small, what we do or who we are it's the intention that counts and the fact that we're all here together means this world needs us, here, for a reason. This alone makes our life worth living and our existence extremely important.

Disclaimer: I don't have anything against anyone in the professions mentioned above. I truly think all professions are as important and play an important role in influencing this world because at the end of the day we all learn something from it and from each other.
