Anemia

Disclaimer:

Not all anemic patients share the same experiences. I am strictly speaking from personal experiences and sharing what I learned.

I've been wanting to share this for a while now but wasn't sure how I should bring it about. So here it goes.

On this page I shared a lot about my spiritual journey and how it has helped me in overcoming a lot of things. I talked about how I have to heal myself spiritually, more on the mental part, but I never talked about the influence it had on me and how I have to physically heal myself. Today I want to share with you guys my experiences in hope of spreading awareness on the following topic.

Anemia is a condition in which the blood doesn't have enough healthy red blood cells. Anemia results from a lack of red blood cells or dysfunctional red blood cells in the body. This leads to reduced oxygen flow to the body's organs.

If you are anemic, learn about your condition and type and listen to your body. If you know someone living with anemia check on them and try to understand their conditions.

Not all anemia can be cured with food and iron supplements. Untreated anemia can result in serious health issues such as heart and lung problems.

Anemia can be broken down into the following types.

- Aplastic anemia occurs when the body stops producing enough new blood cells

- Iron deficiency anemia is a common type of anemia caused by insufficient iron.

- Sickle cell anemia, also called sickle cell disease, is an inherited disorder that affects the shape of red blood cells.

- Vitamin deficiency anemia is caused by lower than usual levels of vitamin B12 and folate.

- Thalassemia is a inherited disorder that causes your body to have less hemoglobin than normal

-- Alpha thalassemia is caused by reduced or absent synthesis of alpha globin chains

-- Beta thalassemia is caused by reduced or absent synthesis of beta globin chains

Anemic patients are prone to experience:

- Tiredness.

- Weakness.

- Shortness of breath.

- Pale or yellowish skin

- Irregular heartbeat.

- Dizziness or lightheadedness.

- Chest pain.

- Cold hands and feet.

- Headaches.

Alcohol consumption can put those living with anemia at risk if they consume too much of it for it reduces the individuals' red blood cells.

Caffeine, tea and soda can block the individual's iron absorption, which is a big no-no. Anemia patients will need all the nutrients they can get.

My story.

I have always been a sickly child but I never knew I had anemia until I started college. I just knew I have low blood counts. If my bloody nose hadn't gotten worse and I didn't do a blood count I wouldn't have found out.

When I found out I had anemia it was already alerting my doctor of danger. I was told I shouldn't be driving or traveling alone because I could faint at any time.

At first we set out to watch my diet but there was no change. After a few tries we switched to iron supplements and my body hated it. I get extremely migraine attacks every single time I take the supplements and it gets worse when the pill melts inside my body. I stopped taking the supplements and came back to simply watching my diet.

From 2020 to 2022 it got worse. I had to put a lot of my projects on hold in 2021 when I realized no matter how much rest I got my energy would only last me 4 hours of the day. This led to me leaving my job in July of 2022 to focus on the things that matter most to me.

It's 2023 and it has slightly gotten better. I haven't looked and felt this good in a long time. My health still has a long way to recover but this is great progress.

Along the way, here are the things that I learned in terms of how my condition had impacted me.

- My taste buds fluctuate. Most days it will be extremely sensitive. Little seasoning will taste like a lot.

- Loss of appetite.

- get sick easily

- Fatigue

- Pale skin

- Unexpected migraines, dizziness and headaches

- Unexpected chest pain

- Always feeling cold

- No energy to workout

How my spiritual journey helped me.

Like I said in my other post, my spiritual journey is very big on reminding me who I am. In this journey to recovery its main purpose remains for it provided a lot of reminder for me of my worth and how much of a blessing life is.

In this particular situation my spiritual journey taught me the importance of inner foundational work. It taught me to love and care for myself, my health and my heart. It showed me how valuable and short life is. It showed me that if I don't care for myself I won't be able to do anything I ever dreamed of.

My spiritual journey has also helped bring in a lot of balance, both energetic and realistically, and has continued to guide me in practicing mindfulness and understanding the importance of holistic living.

Note: I don't know if anemia has any direct connections to spiritual imbalances or causes but I will keep you updated as I continue to learn and recover.

Every walk of our life intertwines because it works to support one another for a greater purpose, one that begins and ends with our individual self.

May we all continue to learn and grow with and from one another.

If I misspoken about Anemia or you have any additional information to add please educate me.

Cherish yourself beautiful souls 💝!

May all be well for you ✨.
